Steve Amituzio and his wife Kim started A-1 Disposal in the mid 90's and has successfully grown A-1 from a one man, one truck company to the multi - truck operation you see today. Steve successfully implemented single stream recycling pickup, roll - off service and even plastic film pick up, as well as plastic film processing.
In Feb. 2026 Steve and Kim decided it was time to slow down and passed the company off to than, 31-year-old Steve Walter.
Steve Walter is a third-generation waste & recycling service provider. He grew up around the waste industry working for his father's garbage company (Walter's Recycling located in Blaine, Minnesota). After high school he decided to move north and spent 5 years working for a local trash company in the Brainerd lakes area while getting a degree in both Diesel Tech and business management. After graduating college, he decided to move home to the metro and work for the family business again. Unfortunately for him, the family business just wasn't the same as the small-town trash companies of the northland that he had come to know and love. After 3 short years as a salesman for the family business Steve decided to purchase a garbage company of his own and head north. Following in the footsteps his father and his grandfather before him, which have all started and successfully built trash companies of their own in their home state of Minnesota.
